Smoky Mountain Brewery – Gatlinburg’s answer for good food and beer

It’s winter in the Great Smoky Mountain town of Gatlinburg, Tennessee.  That means the community is alive with tourists, hikers, skiers, snowboarders and winter sport enthusiasts. So where do the snowbirds go when they’re hungry? Gatlinburg  boasts more than 500 specialty shops, boutiques and restaurants all within walking distance.  Thus the question about where to eat can be overwhelming. I was intrigued to discover a thriving microbrewery and restaurant in the heart of this mountain town. The Smoky Mountain Brewery first opened in Gatlinburg in 1996 and has been serving fresh mountain micro-brewed beer along with hand-tossed pizza, delicious subs […]

Waterman’s serves a meal with a view in Virginia Beach

Half the fun of being at the beach is finding the perfect location for delicious seafood. In addition to good food, atmosphere is equally important. Somehow a seafood meal is best enjoyed in close proximity to the waves and ocean air. Identifying the best spot to watch the surf as the sun fades makes the meal more relaxing and enjoyable.   If you find yourself in Virginia Beach Waterman’s Surfside Grille serves up the perfect combination of seafood and ambiance. Located at 5th Street and Atlantic Ave. the family owned restaurant has been delivering fresh seafood with an ocean view […]

57th Fighter Group Restaurant in Atlanta combines fine food and aviation

Hartsfield Jackson Airport may be the busiest airport in Georgia and the world, but DeKalb Peachtree Airport is the second busiest airport in the Peach State. With charter and private aircraft traffic leaving and arriving throughout the day this airport is a terrific place for viewing small aircraft. A unique way to view the activity at the airport is from the 57th Fighter Group Restaurant. Aviation buffs can sit by the runway sipping a cool beverage or enjoying a meal while watching planes land and take off at DeKalb Peachtree Airport. The 57th Fighter Group is open for business and […]

Asheville’s Moose Cafe; You’ll find country cooking and a big moose too

I enjoy good food and dining out but I’m not a big “foodie.” There are those in the world who live-to-eat. I’m more of an eat-to-live type.  That being said, when I find something that makes me stop and say, “this is really good” I’m sincere. I found a place that made me stop and take note the other day. The Moose Cafe in Asheville, North Carolina. We’d planned to stop in Asheville for lunch on our way to Bryson City. However, we weren’t paying close attention and drove by our exit. Rather than turn around, I noticed a sign […]

Asheville’s awesome brew pubs and craft beers

I love visiting Asheville, NC.  It’s a fun ‘artsy’ city in the western part of the state nestled in the North Carolina Mountains.  On a recent visit I had the pleasure of dining and tasting craft beers at Barley’s Tap Room and Pizzaria.  This fun restaurant has been recognized as the ‘Best Tap Room in the South.’  The renovated 1920’s hardware store serves up delicious pizza and a long list of local brews.  I tried the Highland Gaelic Ale and was delighted with my choice Barley’s is one of several beer joints in the city.  What many don’t realize is […]
