Five things you’ll love about a Bed & Breakfast

Hood House in Hood, Virginia Homey, cozy, romantic, charming, quaint... these are only a few adjectives that come to mind when thinking of a stay in a Bed and Breakfast.  A popular alternative to hotels, the term B&B encompasses a wide variety of guest houses and is a form of lodging which provides a very different mood and atmosphere for an over night stay. I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Hood House in Hood, Virginia. The delightful Bed & Breakfast at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains serves up a welcoming form of hospitality.  My time at [...]

Christmas shopping in the land of lost luggage

December 11, 2012 @ 9:00 am
The Unclaimed Baggage Center in Scottsboro, Alabama is where items left behind on planes, at airports or lost in transit go to find new homes.  It's also a Christmas shopping wonderland. I have to say this is the most unusual place I've ever gone Christmas shopping but since I was driving through Alabama it was a no-brainer. Suffice to say shopping here is hit-or- miss but there are treasures to be found. You just need a little time and a keen eye for a bargain. In 1990 Halifax business man Bill Murphy was looking for something to do after leaving his job in the oil industry. A life-long fly fisherman, he and his wife Sandra headed to the 'wilds of [...]

Glamping in Ireland

Okay, maybe I won't make it back to Ireland this summer, but I've got another reason to return. I've never gone glamping in Ireland.  I recently wrote about glamping in the mountains of North Carolina - which I can't wait to do - well I'm adding glamping in Ireland to my 'to-do' list. Here's a great piece on glamping in Ireland.  Enjoy!  http://blog.discoverireland.com/2012/05/glamping-unusual-accommodation-ireland/ Glamping in the NC Mountains  http://pulloverandletmeout.com/glamping-in-the-north-carolina-mountains/
